Internet Video Takes a Leap

Television has always been the logical home of the TV Series.

Not anymore.

There is a new "TV Series" in the works that is for the internet only.

Who else but Google and what else but short, funny cartoons?

Industry leader Google and Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane are going injury compensation claim produce a series of short, animated comedy sketches made specifically for the Internet. These two-minute-and-under cartoons will be distributed over the net specifically to carry Google ads. This is a brand new direction for the industry and helps further morph TV and Internet video into one entertainment medium.

Calling it the "Google Cartoon Network," plans are to create and distribute 50 animated shorts of Seth McFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy. If a viewer over the internet wants to watch the show, all he has to do is watch a few Google ads along with it. Reminds you of regular TV, doesn't it?

Best known as the edgy comic-producer of shows on Comedy Central, Seth McFarlane says he likes the creative freedom of the internet. His most popular work, Family Guy has come under repeated FCC criticism and fines for its raunchiness. He won't need to worry about that since the series is for the internet only.

One of the biggest differences between this and a standard TV series is show length. No thirty minutes shows for the Internet video crowd, research shows their attention spans demand something two-minutes or less.

McFarlane says people can expect his new adventures in internet video to be similar to the one-frame cartoons you might see in The New Yorker Magazine, only edgier. Simple, quick and to-the-point. Get to the ads.

No word yet on exactly how much it will cost to buy Google ads on this new series, but rates are expected to be significantly higher than standard Google AdSense.

So, do you think this will be a hit? Will these comedy shorts become a popular and profitable way to reach people? If I were a betting gal, I'd say yes, no doubt about it.

Help your team member find some detailed training about how to properly use AdWords. There are some good resources available. Most of the time people just jump in and give it a try, because it seems so easy. It isn't that simple - you must understand the system and know how it works. I had one guy sign up last year and start advertising in AdWords, despite my advice not to go that route just yet. He promptly spent $400 in advertising, sponsored nobody, and quit.

"I tried giving out our full-color opportunity brochure, and nobody signed up. Giving out opportunity brochures doesn't work."

Talk to your downline member about who they gave these to, what they said to them, and most important - did they follow up? Lots of people just hand out stuff indiscriminately and never check back with anyone they give it to. Teach your downline that follow up is a key to success.

"I posted messages in several different forums for a month, and only one person contacted me and he didn't sign up. Posting in forums doesn't work."

Help them learn how to properly present themselves on message boards and how to use signatures. Many people just start posting and make it very obvious they are there for one reason - to recruit. This does not work.

"I published a web site but didn't get any visitors. This online network marketing stuff doesn't work."

You know that a web site has to be promoted in the right places, and it can take quite a while to start getting any visitors. Your downline team member may not realize this. Some people think "if you put it up, they will come".

The bottom line to all this - help coach your downline. Help your team member understand that there are many ways to get prospects for their business, but all methods require an understanding of how to make them work. Help them get past the excuses and avoid the "blame game".
