Ask what support the seller will give you, it is not unusual for sellers to offer a few weeks during the handover to assist with any problems, some sellers will even install the whole thing on your host. Make sure you change the password after they have installed if you take that option.

Normally the site will be sold via some form of forum or auction site. Check the seller's feedback and other comments. If they have sold a site before how well did they get rated? If they have posted comments on other auctions, how professional and business like are their answers. You can normally tell a lot about a person if there comments are for example rude and patronising. You should also be able to get an idea of their experience level

If you ask any questions of the seller try to get them and the answers on the place where you are purchasing the site. That way you will be encouraging other people to read the replies and comment. Lots of people will provide comments on the site, even though they may not be purchasing and this can prove invaluable.
